Challenge
Using premium conservation materials when framing collectable artworks is key to preserving them.
For this Grapes screenprint by Japanese artist Kusama, we aimed to design a frame that would be in perfect harmony with the image and provide the best protection.
Approach
We painted a contemporary box frame moulding black and lightly rubbed back the paint. This achieves a subtle artisanal look, adding interest without detracting from the image.
We opted for a double mount from a museum-grade mountboard to create an elegant, 3D effect. And we used museum-grade glass that blocks out 99.6% of UV rays. This glass also has an anti-reflective coating for ultimate clarity.
Result
A simple but sophisticated frame that will protect this work of art from the 1980s long into the future.
