This is a commission we did for a Bristol Bears rugby player. It was a surprise birthday present from his partner.
She asked us to frame the player’s European matchday shirt and medal.
Approach
Every sports shirt that we frame is different and has to have its foam board former cut by hand to go inside it. We then stretch and pin the shirt over this invisible former. This is attached to a conservation backing board with fabric tags.
For this job, we stitched the player’s medal and ribbon to the player’s shirt as though it is hanging around his neck.
The classic black frame and white backing board effectively set off the shirt and medal.
Result
Sports shirts make interesting wall pieces. Never more so than when they highlight special moments in your sports career.
